I trained as a proofreader after having had a 25-year career in the professional music and opera fields. I have a BA and PhD in music and a diploma in management, and previously worked for the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Arts Council of Ireland (Dublin), Queen's University Belfast, Belfast Music Society and the Ulster Orchestra.
My proofreading and copy-editing training has been through the Publishing Training Centre and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading; I am a Professional Member of the CIEP and follow their code of practice and standard rates of pay. Although I offer a specialism in music, my editing interests include the arts, social sciences, history and natural history, biography and management. I have experience of proofreading and copy-editing a wide range of documents and styles of writing, including books, magazines, business plans, concert programmes, marketing materials, policy documents, dissertations and theses, and online material. Whatever the nature of your project, I would be delighted to discuss it with you. |

'Pam was regularly called upon to produce papers and public reports which could clearly identify issues that were pertinent to the policies of the Arts Council. Her ability to produce concise and comprehensible papers was completely reliable – so much so that other organisations also engaged her separately to undertake major reports for them. ... Clear thinking, strategic intelligence, verbal concision – those would be three important attributes which I would associate with Pam's capabilities.'
